What Customers Say About Sony BDU-X10S - Disk drive - BD-ROM - 2x - Serial ATA - internal - 5.25":

most drives on the shelves and in warehouses have old firmare versions. It's an old version of Power DVD and it only produces 2.0 sound.

Most people who have trouble with this drive don't really have problems with it but with underpowered processors or graphics cards. Im currently using it with a mid level quad core - Radeon HD 4870 rig.

This player has been around my PC for 4 months so far and works just fine. If you don't really know your PC is capable of playing HD Content, get some advice or go easy and buy a standalone player. The only drawback I found is the included software.

I've used it with VGA, DVI and HDMI interfaces through my video card and none of them have posed any problem. This product is meant for people with certain knowledge about PCs and their hardware.

This players are not cheap yet so they should include full featured playback software.Tip. First thing to do after installing it is updating the firmware from Sony's home page.

Sony BDUX10S SATA Blu-ray Disc-ROM Drive (Internal)I've always been happy with my Sony purchases, and this item is no exception. Easy installation and use, nice sound, good value.

Before buying this product I did my research and found a tool from cyberlink that determines whether you can play blu-ray discs according to your hardware and software equipment at the following link ( http://www.cyberlink.com/stat/bd-support/enu/index.jsp ). At the price you pay, this product is certainly a bargain. This internal blu-ray drive is a retail item, so it comes with all the things you need to play blu-ray movies. The only thing I was missing was a software to play blu-ray. This product comes with the PowerDvD, which is the software that I needed to play the blu-ray discs. The only bad thing is that you can't burn anything with it. It's a great product and I've owned it for more than a week now testing it will all blu-rays I have, no regrets buying it.

Ok to start off, the blu-ray drive is a quality product that works flawlessly and is great for the price now. With it, you can download the entire Power Dvd 9 Ultra Edition in maybe 2-3 hours or less depending on your connection and have you watching movies afterward in a few minutes.Bottom line is that if you want to purchase this blu-ray drive, you WILL HAVE to get better software.legally or illegally or it will cost you another $70-$80 easily. For this problem I recommend getting Cyberlink Power DVD 9 Ultra Edition.

I try to make my computer as much as a media center as I possibly can so it is no surprise that I wanted a blu-ray player for it. To actually buy the Cyberlink Power DVD 9 would cost you maybe $80 or more. I have a 22" widescreen monitor that can support and display HD quality as well as a decent quality graphics card (Nvidia 9400GT 1GB).

The one that is given to people I think is PowerDvd 6 which is a horrible version with a lot of bugs and no real helpful updates. To all those who bought this product and gave it a lower rating than usual due to its inability to play blu-ray DVDs especially the newer ones: this is not as much as a hardware problem as it is software. YES, it has a HORRIBLE software and drivers for it and YES the updates are completely useless.

Instead, and I am not advocating for this in any way and not responsible for any repercussions that come from it but.*cough* torrents *cough**cough*. Hope this review helped.

Currently I can't get it running after updating my Soundblaster audio card. Just buy a normal blu-ray player separate from your computer. Save yourself the pain. Sometimes the blu-ray won't recognize a disc (however after a few restarts it might), or sometimes it will play but there will be no sound. Sometimes I could get the blu-ray player to work great. But often I'm re-installing drivers to get it running everytime Vista (64 bit ultimate) has a significant update. Or sometimes, like now, I can't get it to work despite having re-installed and updating the blu-ray driver as well as the Cyber-link blu-ray player program. So I give up - I'm going to buy a normal blu-ray player.
